She's a silkie Serama bantam....1 yr. old! Thank you.

I got her from Dixiebirds.com on Ovabid.com. She was already 1 yr. old. The rooster came from there, also. He was 2 1/2 yr. old. They were sold as a good breeder pair. I love them! The rooster is evidently doing a good job!

How sweet, Chicken_Boy! Congratulations! None of Penny's eggs hatched, and I removed her from the nest yesterday. I'm about to take her to the vet for possible Bumblefoot as she is limping. There is no cyst yet or visible wound. I have soaked her foott in a diluted hydrogen peroxide solution and applied triple antibiotic ointment, but she was still limping this morning, so off the the vet as soon as he is out of surgery! Maybe we will have better luck next time hatching some chicks.

This is my very first broody hen, Layla!!!!! Notice the evil looks she's giving me as i try to take her picture, lol
She is still mad at me for trying to see how many eggs she's sitting on. She's got a whole nest full!!!!
I've got 34 eggs in the bator and 12 more on order, so this should be a very interestring, and busy month!!!!!!

Ps. I was told she was a "Black giant" Is that the same as a Black Australorp? (sp)
