My poor little white show girl has her neck ripped open with a big skin flap about half of the length of her neck and a couple scratch marks on her shoulders looks like from some roos mounting her.I washed her up good and brought her inside in a big dog crate with straw in it.She seems comfortable I dried her up and she has antibiotic oint on her wounds. She ate good and drank a bunch of water and now I guess will need to heal up before going out again.Does anyone else have this problem with the neck naked hens?

I have show girls and have never had this happen before. I would have probably gone the super glue route unless it was just a huge piece of skin.

Any way you can separate her from those roos? How many roos are there?

Not sure if this applies to you but can you trim the roos spurs ? I read that this can be done if careful.

she is in the house now with tlc and her own private crate. The roos don't even have spurs yet.I do have everybody mixed bantams and standard.I have 5 roos in that coop and about 30 hens. They seem to pick certain hens as favorites

Mixing large fowl roosters and bantam hens is an accident waiting to happen. Her neck may very well have been ripped by the beak of an amorous over sized rooster. You wouldn't allow a great dane to try and breed a chihuahua would you? Multiple roosters in a pen with hens leads to competitive and gang breeding behaviors even when the ratio of hens to roosters is OK. I would recommend immediately seperating all bantam hens from the large fowl roosters.

Never had that happen.I had a couple NN hens and a couple roo's last 2 breeding seasons.I guess they are more susceptable to neck wound's with breeding some of the roo's bite at the neck feather's when breeding. But my 2 hen's were usualy fine since they stayed in coops with smaller bantam's like cochin's or silkie's or frizzle's.I had one surviving Large Crele Phoenix roo that favored her though and he would fly fence to her but I never seen him damage her in any way.Just keep her warm and keep the neck clean I hope she will be ok.
