I breed showgirl to showgirl. My flock has six beared hens and one clean necked cock. my chicks hatch 50% bearded/50% clean necked.
all have very dark skin and toes feathered to the center. some w/vaulted skull, some not. most have correct number of toes some have +/_ ,
thats way (toes) its my biggest problem. I have been working with this flock for 4year, before that it was a nice flock of black Silkies and other breeds that my boys wanted for 4H. In fact thats how my first cross of silkie happen. turken/bk. silkie. It wasn't tell t 2008 that I ordered my first showgirl eggs.
I really enjoy them and am always working to make them better. This year I will be adding some White Silkies . Silkie cockerels will be placed with the young clean necked showgirl pullets. and any silkie pullets will be placed with young clean necked showgirl cockerels.
I will increase my current showgirl bloodline by seven, by adding six hens and a cockerel from their offspring. Already have chosen the cockerel. and have two pullets that i like,
for now anyway, always can change my mind on who qualifyes.
