When can you tell the gender on showgirl chicken?
Thanks for the tag.
Are they like standard silkies ? Wait until they lay or crow ? I have a brother n I can tell it a roo it have full red comb n wattles but this one idk with my luck it might be a roo tooThanks for the tag.
This bird looks about 10 weeks old? It’s too early to tell. No wattles yet so that’s a good sign. Has a wide comb but it’s not raised as far as I can tell.
Thanks for the tag but sorry, I'm not good with this kind of thing
Huh, that goes to show how bad I am at guessing genders! I would have said pullet!Too young to tell but I’m saying cockerel.
Yes they are like standard Silkies in that it can be difficult to tell gender early on. Is this bird around 10 weeks? You don’t state the age. This one appears to be beardless so should be easier to tell gender earlier on. Males will develop significant wattles. Are they like standard silkies ? Wait until they lay or crow ?
