The way we feed our meat pen chickens are as follows:
We start our feeding 2 bags of Turkey Starter
Once the bag are fed we switch to 20% Chicks Grower
2 weeks before fair we switch to Cracked Corn to firm up the birds.

We give them a vitamin pack in there water when they are young but stop after about a month.

Does anyone have suggestions what I can do to improve my feeding program and my birds.

Thanks

Instead of switching to just corn... top dress your regular feed with corn. All cor n does is add additional body heat and fat.

Could you give me an example of what you mean? What part corn to normal grower feed? 1 part corn to 2 parts grower??

feed them lots and lots of crickets and mealworms. These bugs are packed with protein and are very easy to get

We have debunked that myth long ago.

If this is the case then what does corn do? What would you reccomend doing at the end right before fair?
Thanks

I think you are feeding them right. In dietary terms corn is used because it is a highly digestable grain. It adds lots of caleries to the diet. In a meat bird it will do 2 things. Add muscle or fat, most likly fat. Of course that is what you are looking for so I say keep doing it.
