Showing and Breeding my Large Fowl Blue, Black, and Splash Cochins

None of the eggs were pipped today so I threw them out. Not a happy camper.
I took the Red river Valley Fair out of my show list. It just didn't make sense to go to 3 shows in one month. So now the the hens I was going to take there will be shown in the Open Show at state fair. So there will be at least 4 blue cochins!

I need to set eggs bad. On January 5 I will have 5 months until county fair and about 6 until state fair. I already have birds I that are perfectly capable of winning but I was hoping this year to sweep(get grand and reserve) 5 classes
• Pullet
• Cockerel
• Hen
• Cock
• Young trio

My blue hen looks like she should start laying again, wattles and comb have become red in thr last few days. Maybe I will have some young birds for county and state

This is the hen

This spring I am most likely getting a relatives of mine 10×30 garage.
Currently I am drawing up plans for what I want to do with the building! I am really excited

I took these pictures of my black pullet, not the best pictures. One thing I don't like is the earlobe color. However my black cock should fix that

One thing I would suggest from my years in LF Black Cochins. Is trim or pluck the feathers around their vents. This will greatly improve your fertility because these large, fluffy birds can have a hard time "hooking up". I pluck a spot about the size of my fist. Above the vent on females, and below the vent on males. I do it with my English Orpingtons and Brahmas as well. Nearly doubled my fertility the first year I did it.

My black pullet started laying again today. Last time she was with a male was about two months ago, it was with the black cock. He is finally over being sick, but not well enough to breed so I will try and AI tomorrow. I will put the egg from today in the incubator, even though its most likely not fertilized
