Showing Chickens-What Do I Do?!?

Ok I am 12 yrs. old and I really want to show chickens. My dad said I could but I don't know TWO things on how to do it.

The one thing I do know is I need a chicken.

So could someone PLEASE

tell me what to do. Any advice is helpful.

best things you can do to help yourself along is to get into 4-H if you aren't and get a copy of the book of standards (the American Poultry Association or American Bantam Association) and study them. Become familiar with the breeds, pick a breed you want to work with. Read up on it. The 4-H part is to help you learn showmanship skills and how to condition and take care of the bird for the show. Do you have a particular breed in mind you want to show? Will you be showing in more than just your county fair? There's a lot of folks on here who can help you out but we need more info to help you out.
