Showing chickens?

I’ve raised chickens all my life for egg laying, but this year when I bought a new flock (got rid of previous due to moving where they weren’t allowed but now moved again to a place they are allowed) I got a show line pullet. I intend on showing, but I have no idea what I’d need to do?

Does she need to be certified? If so, certified by what, and how would that be done?

Would she need a bill of health like a dog?

How would I enter a show? What do shows entail?

What age would my chick have to be before showing?

Does she need vaccines? I’ve heard of a few for chickens, but I’ve never actually bought vaccinated birds or vaccinated them in my life?

As you can see, I know absolutely nothing about showing chickens, so any information would help!

Info about my chick (Incase that matters)

She is a Mille Fleur Belgian D’uccle bantam

She is 8 weeks now

She is from a line of chickens that have one first place at shows for years

Also, I am in Connecticut (incase it varies state by state)

Curious, since you're in CT. Did you get her from Dustin Sfreddo? I breed and show Mille Fleur d'Uccles so I know about him and showing.

No vaccines needed, no vet bill of health needed, no certification as there is none for poultry.
She does need to be tested negative for Pullorum Typhoid. Shows require that to enter.
I don't show birds less than 4 months old. You enter online usually, from the show's website.

Nope, I got her from an old lady who has had chickens all her life! She’s over 85 and has to have over 200 chickens, and a few cows! (She said she can’t mow the lawn so she got cows instead lol) I saw her birds at the north haven fair (I saw her Belgian D’anver which is the breed I went to the show to seek, but when I called her she said her hen keeps breaking her eggs, so I settled on a d’uccle instead) and it was so pretty, I asked for her number. She had so many beautiful birds there, but once I got home, I realized they were infested with lice, so I wouldn’t buy from her again unless I felt like dealing with lice.

Also, what’s the procedure for getting tested for Pullorum Typhoid? Would a normal vet be able to do it? Or would I have to go to a poultry/exotic vet? Would I have to test my entire flock or just her?

Just her, if you test within 90 days of the show. Any certified tester can do it, your state department of agriculture may know someone.
