At a non-sanctioned show just about anything can be entered. Depending on the judge, they may or may not have a clue on the standards.

Personally, I want good judging at all shows, sanctioned or not.

If you are working on creating a breed or variety, then yes, enter your bird. And be sure to provide the judge & show secretary with a working standard: for example, sizzles have a working standard that matches the silkie standard on all features except feather type. And feather type is frizzled and NOT silkie. Showgirls have a working standard of silkie features with the added naked neck feeature.

If you're introducing a recognised variety into a breed where it is not currently recognised, then there is already a standard for the variety. If you are creating a NEW variety, you need something that defines your goals (e.g., lime green primaries with fuchia and cyan barring on the head, hackles, saddle & tail).

However, entering a barnyard cross, however pretty it might be, is probably not worth the effort or the stress to the bird.

4H you can i showed my EE's and they did ok they just compared them to the ameraucana standard!! which sucked but you can just at places like that they also have commercial classes in 4H and you can do mixed breeds that way as well or if you had a pure bird but didnt quite make the standard and you can show them that way
