Hello,
I have a Frizzle Cochin Bantam. I'm showing her at the fair next month in Showmanship. At the fair, I have to walk her on the table. But, she won't walk without a towel down unless it's wood or the ground. I'm a bit concerned as she's the only showmanship bird I have. Also, i have no clue as to wether or not the fair will have towels laid down on the table or as to what kind it will be.I have heard that the Cochin breed is very lazy. Any tips to get her to walk on the table without a towel?

Don't work with her on slick or slippery tables. Find a rough piecce of wood, old door or something and work her on that so that she gains self confidence. Many birds are reluctant to move on slippery surfaces.

All the fairs I have been to have a table with indoor/outdoor carpeting on it. Like the fake grass kind of stuff.

My daughter does showmanship with a silkie. We've been there. It isn't easy to get her to walk across the table. But, most birds are going to feel more secure with some sort of traction under their feet and not a slippy table, and they take this into consideration. I bet this will be the case for your fair as well. Good luck!!
