Showing Silkies question....

Hello, I live in Scottsdale and I am looking for a couple White Bearded Silkies to add to my fresh baby group of 2 /7day old Rhode island Reds. A custom coop is being built on Tuesday with amazing accomidations however, I have no Slikies and that was the whole reason I have dying to have chickens for years... Please Help Me if any one knows anywhere I can find them. I have been to the Big Breeders and they are all out until December/January. I was hoping to find some sooner... I will come to you in Arizona. Thank You fro your time of any suggestions. Thank You. xo

Get ahold of Sonoran, there is also another breeder in AZ whose name escapes me right now.
Good luck, and if you house them together with the RIRs, watch them very carefully, as the Reds can be brutal.

Hello, sorry this is not a reply I am new at having chickens and new at this website so I am not sure how everything goes here for posting questions.
my question is can I leave 2 rusters together with hens without one being killed I have 6 brown hens 5 silkies 3 of them are 8 months old 2 hens and one ruster and2 silkies are 2 months old one is a ruster, can you help.

I didn't read everyones reply but my daughter shows silkies and she found out that washing them a couple days prior to show then the day before show blow drying them with sheen spray really is helpful.

Silkie roosters may or may not fight other roosters. If raised together, the sparring is usually minimal. However, in your case there is an age difference that could make a difference. When each gets into their teenage hormone surges, keep a watchful eye on them. But given enough space they may do quite nicely. I used to have a self-grouped small flock of 5 that roamed the yard together peacefully. Only one girl in that group.

Susie, I know a bunch of breeders!
How old, what colors were you looking for, and where are you?
And did you want pet quality, or were you looking into getting into the world of showing?
There is a BIG show next month, at the Big E in Springfield, Mass.
I haven't noticed if there was a thread for it yet, it's called the Northeast Poultry Congress.
Jan 19-20, 2013.
There is always a huge sales area.
Hope to see you there!
