showmanship at major shows

My son has competed for 2 years at the county fair,but I was wondering how showmanship at a big show will compare.
Will he have to shoulder the bird?
Our county fair, they usually ask questions. Will my son have to prepare his speech for showing the bird and go through all the parts? I just want him to know what to prepare for. Thanks.

How old is your son? The questions and knowledge requirements are different according to age. If you'll go to the APA website, they have a list of knowledge requirements for each age group.
At the shows we have been to, the judge lets the child tell him all they know about the bird, then he will ask questions. They have to know how to put the bird in the coop correctly and handle it. We have never had to show the bird on a table.
