ok so I just came in from lighting fireworks and I found that one of the chicks that pipped wasn't moving anymore. I've already got 6 hatched and I watch the egg for a long time as they trampled looking for any sign of life. I recently found a chick dead in the shell because shrink wrapping. My humidity is at 80% most of the time and I've only opened the incubator twice when I removed the dead chicks. Any ideas on why they're shrink wrapping? I've got 3 different hygrometer and all read the same. It always seems like the first 6 pippers hatch then the rest die.

Really, you should not open the incubator at all for at least 24 hours during the hatch. If you absolutely have to, sometimes spraying the eggs with warm water can boost the humidity temporarily. Good luck.
