I have seen several references to hatching chicks being shrink wrapped. Im new and would like to know what this refers to and how to avoid it. I am into day 9 of my first try at hatching eggs in my homemade incubator. I dont want to shrink wrap any potential chicks.

Shrink Wrapping is when the membrane that is between the chick and the shell dries out and shrinks around the chick. This makes it impossible for the chick to turn and pip/zip to get out of the shell. I usually run my humidity at 45% to 50% on days 1-18 and 60% on days 19-21. Keep in mind that yours may differ.
