I have a few runner duck eggs I've been incubating and two are actively tapping away and working on their external pip while one hasn't shown any sign of activity. They all internally pipped fine but it's been over 24 hours since then. I went ahead and put air holes in all of them. I chipped away a little at the air hole of the one I'm having trouble with and I'm not really sure what it's supposed to look like inside because I've never had to assist besides adding air holes. Is this duckling shrink wrapped or does it look normal? Should I keep the membrane moist with a qtip? Also the hole isn't quite as big as it looks in the pictures, just enough to see inside good.

Can I ask? Did you moisten the membrane or leave be? Mine are like this now and worried
I moistened it with a qtip and warm water every 2 hours. I also tried to keep the humidity pretty high, between 70% and 80%. When it looked liked the blood vessels had dried up, I peeled the membrane back just a little because it kept drying up around its head kinda tight. From there, I usually moistened it about every 3 hours up until it hatched. It actually still had some yolk that hadn't been absorbed so I put it in a little bowl with damp paper towels inside the incubator. Hope this helps!

I've moistened mine a little, didn't want to hurt them. Hoping they'll be ok.
Thank you. I'll keep a close eye and follow what you did. Fingers crossed 🤞
