Shrink wrapped ducks?? What should I do?

The strange thing is, your ducks are LAZY at getting out but MAN, once the heads are out, they act like they have had a five hour energy drink, followed by three cups of coffee and A RED BULL.

All of a suddenly they have ALL this energy and get SOOO antsy on us, that they start breaking the rest of the shell off.  Bleed all over and try to GIVE us Heartattacks..

Ain't that the truth!!

I have had problems with my ducks doing the same thing shrink raping but this is how i have save many of them. Mine or black Swedish ducks but it shouldn't make any difference. Normally they can pip but then they have trouble getting out almost all of mine do. So once they pip i normally pick just enough for the beak to breath and i see if it will go ahead on its own but normally my ducks seem to get stuck i keep them misted with a spray bottle every hour or so to keep the membranes moist. once the blood vessels shirk and do not bleed and if the duck doesn't emerge on its own i will role the membrane down around the duck being careful not to break or tear anything to cause bleeding. Once the head and wing is released my ducks push right on out and or happy little ducks. My little chickens seem to do fine on there own but the duck have problems. When i first started hatching ducks i lost almost all them because they couldn't get out. Then the second batch i was nervous that the same thing would happen and i helped tooooo soon and they didn't have the sake within there body and several died Third batch and everyone batch seance i have lost very few of them. Normally i hatch 5 of them at a time.

I have hatched 11 calls so far out of 24 eggs....they are not easy, but then again neither are 'scoveys'.. My neighbor gave me 18 eggs this spring and I only managed to hatch 5, but I had a bad thermostat which probably contributed to the problem. I had stickies too! Here are some of my babies:

AWWW I see bibbed, snowy, greys/mallards, A chocolate MAGPIE?????? REALLY?????

I usually set 4 to 6 doubles and can get either one egg to completely hatch with twins or one chick from one and one from another. Never had problems with development. They go full term. I guess I must be waiting too long to help out. I have a set of Silkie twins that hatched. Paint twins at that. And when they stand next to each other half of each of their heads is black and white. The coolest thing ever. Lol just need my surivial rate to be better.

As far as double yolkers, I know you have to act earlier because it's hard for both to survive in that little shell. But amazing you got some to go full term. WOW.

HUMM, but we aren't have a "shrink raping". problem LOL. we are having just the opposite, we have a sticky problem, which means they are stuck with this thick gooy stuff. It keeps them in the shell making it hard for them to get out. We are basically doing the same thing only Not misting, I wouldn't want her to mist them since there beaks are present, in fear of them getting water in there nostrils and not being able to sneeze it out...causing them to suffocate because of the water blocking there air way. Or it going down there throats the wrong way. Yek, Not while they are in the shell. TO RISKY..
