I had a late hatchling in our first clutch that was shrink wrapped after 24 hrs. of trying I helped the guy out. His membrane was very dry on his feathers, so I rinsed him with warm water to get it off. But now 4 hours later he is still curling up as if still in the egg, and can’t seem to get himself straight. Could he need more time? Wry neck?? Is it a deformity from staying inside the shell?? Is there anything I should do to help? First time chick mama..so many questions!

Can you post a few pics? Get him out and rub him, fluff him up. I think he might just need a little more time. He was probably just cramped in the egg.

I had one that way too. He straightened out after about 12 hours.

Aw, poor baby. Do you have any other chicks? Maybe you could put one in there with him. Is he the last hatcher? If so, you can drop the temp to 97 or so so he doesn't cook

I have him separated from the brood with a heater on him- He spins in the container and then curls back up. Is it ok to handle him or should he just rest?

I have him out of the bator as there is at least one more hatching and a few that may not. We have 3 that hatched 2 days ago, but I wasn’t sure if he should go in the brooder with them or not??

how old is he in your pictures? he looks like he's still wet from the hatching, I would give him more time to dry and rest.
He’s only been out of the eggshell since 6:30-7 this morning. Pics are current times @ 10:30’ish, so he’s mostly dry, but a little funkier than others were that hatched and rested awhile in the incubator like normal; I’ve just never seen how they act upon arrival.
