Hi. I'm hatching call duck eggs and one of them had pipped internally so I waited a day and then nothing. so I poked a small hole in the outer shell and when i did i noticed that the inner membrane is completely pulled away from the inside of the shell and has the duckling trapped inside. what should i do? there is slight blood but no obvious veins and it has been exactly 27 days today and the duckling is peeping. should i help or wait or what???? please adivse. already lost one in a similar manner dont want to lose another. thanks in advance

Also, @Pyxis has an article about assisting hatches. Call Ducks oftentimes need assistance, especially if they're quality calls with short bills and short necks.

Out of my 5 that were due to hatch last week, I lost one and had to assist 3 of the 4 surviving ducklings. I did make safety holes for all of them due to the fact that they sometimes will block their natural pip as they turn to start zipping. You'll need to keep the humidity in mind once they've pipped internally, and especially externally or if you make a safety hole. I'll link @Pyxis article next

There is something, something about letting poultry hatch on their own.. Like pulling a kid with forceps.. They weren't ready to face the world, and if you take the short cut as in 'help'. You make them weak.. instead of strong. Adversity creates strength.. help creates dependence.

I respect your thoughts on this but call ducklings have trouble hatching on their own. Even in nature, the hen will assist the hatch of call Ducks. They have such short necks and bills which makes it very difficult to hatch on their own. Again I do respect your thoughts and agree to a point, but there are exceptions and in my opinion call Ducks are certainly an exception
