Shrinking toes

frostbite, rats nibbling, sharp wire flooring entrapping toes- many possibilities. Those look healed. What do they look like when it first happens? Are the toes black, cut & bloody ect before looking smooth and healed like in the photo?

My roo has the exact same thing except it's on both feet. Mites! I was told he has mites. I've never seen them though. He also has a bad case if bumble foot right now.
