Shrinkwrapped??

Thank you so much! I've just never seen how close the membrane sits to their face :/

But, I do have another question: Is the blood supposed to be pooled like this? It was like this when I opened it. I know the7 absorbed it and all but I've also heard of them accidentally breaking open a vein.

Pooled? It shouldnt be outside of the veins.

Ive had chicks pip through veins before and be fine, but if you can find a source of bleeding try to stop it. ( as long as it doesnt block a breathing hole) you can use a q-tip to absorb any pooling blood and when youve found where its coming from, some of the outter membrane can be laid over the cut to stop it bleeding. But if its bleeding from an internal pip just dry it with a qtip it should stop bleeding on its own too.

Thing is, though, it's still within the membrane. There are no holes in the membrane.

I'm guessing the stuff is coming from the other side of the beak. I don't know that I'd be able to get in there to help :(

I'd have to cut open the membrane like you said and soak it up and hope the bleeding will stop wherever it's coming from.
