Hi all,
Just wondering whether anyone may be able to help me. My 9 week old chick has had a cold for nearly 3 weeks now. Her appetite decreased but then came back and now has lowered again. Her cold got better but now she is sneezing a lot more. However, as well as the cold she seem to have difficulty swallowing the food she attempts to eat and often 'sneezes' it back up. She's weak, not very energetic and stands up in her sleep.
I've tried citricidal in her water, garlic grains in her water, giving castor oil in case anythings stuck, colloidal silver spray in her mouth and poultry nutri drops. But she's still not well. I have been advised by the farmer I bought her from not to go the vet because they don't know much about chickens.
Her crop is fine. she has a snotty beak but no discharge from her eyes. Her eyes seem fine. But she half closes them when trying to eat as if she may be in pain. She's not been put outside yet because I want her to be well enough first. Her poo is more white/cream than normal. At one point we were feeding her liquidised food using a sringe throughout the day to make sure shes getting some food. She gets fed on growers pellets and gets treats like bread, dry rice(which she loves) and veg.
I really don't know what to do and I'm worried. Any advice and help will be appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
