I have 9 week old cochans that I got at a flee market (mistake). I believe where sick a that point. Sure where stressed when they came home. Seamed slow to eat and drink (3 weeks ago). Put them on chick start medicated right away. Noticed sneezing and nazal discharge with fowl smell. Started them on a full dose of sulmet (for coccidiosis). Didn't help. More active babys. Then I started them (5 days later) on duramycin10 800 mg (5days in to it). And they are not better. Not worse but Im out of ideas. I'm new at this and have followed all advice I can find.

Please look up threads and treatment for Coryza. The foul smell, plus the other respiratory symptoms, indicate Coryza.

Thank you, that sounds about right. The sulmet (sulfamethazine sodium) directions say give it to chicks for 2 consecutive days. I gave it to them for 2 days full strength and half that for 4 days. It didn't do anything. Is there a better product?

I am searching for the thread that told the treatment for Coryza. Since they will remain carriers for life and infect any other bird you bring on to your property, you need to decide whether to treat or humanly euthanize them. I will continue to try and find the information you are asking for...

Here is a link to help. Read the links contained in the links for your information:

One of my 5 week olds started out with a swollen eye, runny eye and would have progressed to a more serious respitory infection (probably where you are now) but I used Tylan 50 for 5 days and it fixed her right up. Heck at this point what is there to lose. They carry it at your local TSC and pick up some 3cc syringes and 22 gauge needles. Plan on giving 0.5cc just into the breast muscle, changing locations during each daily injection. Don't go deep into the breast, you don't want to hit the internal organs.

Thanks peeps!! I'm truly heart broke at this point. I have 5 older pullets(16 weeks) that I have not introduced to my baby cochans yet. My chicks smell is gone and almost no runny nose, just a sneeze now and again. I'm about to the point of building a separate coop for sick birds and take in all sick chicks. I just want to cry. I will try the tylon and see if I cant find some one that only wants 2 girls.....maybe a boy and girl.
