My husband and I are proud owners of 37 grown chickens, 31 chicks, 10 grown ducks, & 22 ducklings. Yesterday i came home to a nightmare come true. My favorite hen "gorgeous"(her name says it all), & favorite duckling "bitty" were dead. Bitty is explainable, she was trampled by the pekin ducklings, but gorgeous was completely healthy up until 4 days ago. She started laying around on the coop floor, and wouldn't move, almost as if she had no strength to stand, & had a runny nose. We started dosing all of our hens with vet rx, duremycin, and nutri-drench. Nothing stoped whatever she had from progressing. Today I came home to 5 of my hens with closed swolen eyes, and 2 of those 5 have rattling in their chest, as if they're congested. Still treating with duramyacin and vet rx. I need more ideas on what this could be, and how to treat it.
