Sick barred rock

Ok I appreciate everyone very much. I researched more at work today. Beatrice was looking better this morning but her crop was still full. After reading a lot I decided not to force a throw up. My daughter held her and messaged her crop. She eventually did a humungous stinky poop. We have many ages of birds. They were all having very runny to watery stool. Well a lot. But then we lost one and we don't know what happened and another 1 started pooping lime green runny stool So we became worried and administered Corrid. I did not want to lose any more. Because she is a very sweet bird she pretty much does what we want. So we put her out with the others since she was going stir crazy and after she was out kickin it with the crew my daughter went over and picked her up and massaged her crop some more and she said it felt like it was getting smaller. She still had dry food in it but had not yet eaten any pellets since yesterday. So tomorrow we will continue this. She seems to be improving. and of course they all love the electrolyte and probio water so that is getting sucked right down. I appreciate the feed back, I didn't even know what a crop was. We don't eat our birds, they have retirement plans here. though I'm not gonna lie, I think the roosters will be on our table this year. While they can be an asset, I just can't watch them take the feathers from our girls backs.
P.S. No lice and no egg bound symptoms. We looked her over good. Not to mention I regularly use preventive measures for lice since I have goats too. You guys are amazing!!!

I glad to hear she is perking up a bit.
Re-check the crop in the morning to see how that is. I like to start with giving 1tsp of coconut oil, then massage the crop to see if I feel anything hard in there. If the crop is impacted, then massage is good. If it's sour or doughy, then massaging is usually not that necessary, you will want to help treat the yeast though, so refer to the articles - if you need help with that let us know.

I’m glad Beatrice is doing better. Keep up the good work.

BTW, I love her name. I might steal it, if that’s OK! (I have an 8-week old chick/pullet and haven’t decided on a name.... Tiny, Minnie, Bitty, Betty... Betty could be short for Beatrice!)

Thanks, steal away...we named her that because we were looking for a royal name and shes our Queen Bea.

That’s great news. A couple of mine love to snack on feathers and I need to help them get them through the crop. If I miss the window of opportunity, it can start to sour and go doughy, which is no fun. Good job being on top of it!
