I always give my young chicks Sulmet, just as a precaution, when they are 3-4 weeks old, because it kills them so fast. I think by the time they start showing symptoms of it, it is already too late.
 
As a heads-up, bleach doesnt kill cocci. Ammonia does, I've heard. I use ammonia to clean my roosts where the chicks and young teens are kept. After this year, I'll always have a bottle of Sulmet and one of Corid on hand to treat cocci. Something is just weird about how so many are having outbreaks, in spite of the medicated feed.
