My favorite Hen has been broody for 7 weeks, I got her some fertile eggs 4 weeks ago that are just hatching now, but she has hardly been eating/drinking in all this time.

She has terrible diarrhea just like water and this morning I noticed blood in it. She doesn't seem lethargic, but this is only the 3rd day of it. She isnt eating or drinking much.

Her poop hole seems like its permanently open and she sits with her bottom in the air.

Does anyone know what it could be? Or how I could help? I'm in The U.K and we don't have chicken vets or many medicines here. Also she is pooping water all over the chick.. and it stinks!

Being broody for 3 weeks is very hard on a hen, but 7 weeks? Green poop indicates she is not eating enough. have you been encouraging her to eat/drink? Taking her off the nest and offering her chopped up egg etc? If it were me, I would take the chicks away from her right away and brood them myself, then immediately transfer her into your chicken hospital and start some rehab - she sounds in a bad way to me. I am in the UK too and my vet would quite happily see a chicken or prescribe medication for me. Good luck with your hen.

My local vet just puts the chickens down!

She's not broody anymore and is just caring for one chick.. the others aren't due to hatch for another 5 days. I have tried encouraging her to eat but she isn't having any of it. I have a heat lamp over one side of the cage so the chick can come out and she doesn't have to sit over (and poop over) him.

Anyone know what this could be? What I can do to help?

I don't understand how she has one chick already if the eggs are not due for another 5 days? How old is the chick? If she is not broody any more then the rest of the eggs are not going to hatch anyway. Again, my only suggestion would be to get her out of there and into some sort of 'hospital' area and start encouraging her to eat and drink. Poultry vits in the water, yogurt, hard boiled egg etc. It could be that she is too busy caring for her chick to care for herself, but that environment doesn't sound good for the chick either. I hope someone else comes along with more advice for you but that is what I would do, and soon.
