Hi,

My 10 month Orpington is lethargic, has diarrhea and laid a white egg today. She always lays brown eggs.

Less than two weeks ago my Barred Rock hen died after having these same symptoms. I isolated her from the flock and she laid a white egg and everything and I was treating her for vent gleet but she didn't make it.

Any insight would be great. I have only 3 hen left and don't want to loose my Orpington. They have a big chicken run with fresh food and water and I clean it all the time.

I'm sorry to hear about your pullet.

Can you post some photos of her, the egg and her poop?
Have you ever had respiratory illness in your flock?

If possible, seeking vet care is best.

Feel her abdomen for bloat, swelling or fluid. Check the crop to make sure it's emptying overnight and look for lice/mites.
The one that you lost, did she have vent gleet ( a white pasty, yeasty/foul smelling discharge from the vent)? Does your BO have a discharge or foul smelling breath?

I would try to get her hydrated, then see if she will eat for you.

What type of food/treats do you feed?
