Hi
first time chick mama. I read people feeding them treats from day one so I cut up lettuce leaves and put it in their run. I’m not saying this is what did it but I do have a sick chick and already posted about it but wondering if I stop all treats will it help.? Also this chick closes eyes and opens mouth a bit repeatedly . It still eats but I’m concerned.

Coccidiosis can be common at that age. Corid from the feed store is a common treatment. Dosage is 2 tsp per gallon of water for 5-7 days. You can also give 0.1 ml per pound of the undiluted Corid orally in addition to the treated water. Symptoms of coccidiosis are lethargy, weakness, runny poops, not eating, and sitting luffed up or hunched.

The other chicks should drink the water, if the one has coccidia, then the rest have it to. I would separate her, she is sick and could be picked on. Also, she is the worst affeted, so you can monitor her eating/drinking/pooping. Put ACV, Oregano, and Garlic cloves in the water until you have corid.

ACV is Apple cider vinegar if you weren't aware. Good luck!
