I have a polish chick that is 1 week old and very sick. The other day she almost died so I bought 4 sexlinks to be her friends and she perked right up. Today she was very lethargic, not eating/drinking and the other chicks are up and running around. She can't walk without falling over. She isn't moving but she's breathing and I have forced some Gatorade down her cause I don't have sav a chick. I was thinking cocci but her poop is watery and not bloody. How do I save her?

Thank you all so much
Andrea

Hold it against your bare chest near your heart. it will make her warm and secure. I don't know what you could give her other than lots o TLC. If you have long enough hair, it would love to nest around your neck wrapped in hair. Call me crazy but it has often worked for me. good luck

Thank you for your suggestion :)

Update: she looks likee she Is dead now and won't open her eyes. Please help

It's unlikely you can save her. The Gatorade is a good idea. But holding her close and giving her your warmth and compassion is the best you can do. So, if she survives, good. And if she doesn't survive then she lived her little short life loved by somebody.

I'm so sorry. Raising chicks is often filled with heart break. it happens even with the most experienced breeders. some chicks are just born weak. Try not to be discouraged.

Sorry about your chick, but many chicks can die up to a week or so after shipping. Cocci is usually a disease that shows up later after the first couple of weeks, unless the chick is on the ground. Keeping some electrolytes around or making your own can help with shipping stress, but it is fairly common to lose one with a shipment. Here is a recipe for homemade electrolytes:

1 quart water
1/8 tsp salt substitute
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
