I have had a fowl pox outbreak. Everyone is better now except one hen. Her eye is shut and very red. The skin around her eye and beak looks very raw and she is not feeling well. I have used an ointment but not lookin better. Not sure it's pox though because no bumps. Any suggestions?

Would it be possible for you to post a picture of the pox? Bacterial infections in the eye during a pox virus infection can be common, and may require an antibiotic eye ointment or drop to treat it. Iwould clean the eye with saline, and get some Terramycin Eye Ointment (you may have to ask for it in a feed store or TSC.) It can be applied twice a day.

Her poor lil face is real dirty from all the ointment I keep putting on. She can open it but doesn't keep it open. It does look better today

Hopefully, she will get better soon. Here are some articles to read about pox:

268.269.Frequently, the conjunctival mucosa, injured by the pox virus, is an entrance door for additional contamination (£. coli, Staphylococcus spp. etc.) and development of complications. The infection is mechanically spread by dissemination of the virus through desquamation of crusts that contain it. Some mosquitoes and blood suckling arthropods could also distribute the virus. The mosquitoes remain infective for several weeks. The incubation period is from 4 to 10 days. The disease is spread slowly and many weeks could pass between its emergence and severe outbreaks
