have you triend hydrogen peroxide yet???, thats the last thing i would try, than feed it and give it rest...or take it to the vet ASAP, i woldnt want it to go into shock, also I would steralize the area of your other chick if it is bacterial, just to be safeyeah....no way it will be around much longer... omg
Good god, this is sad, Im so sorry I couldnt be a better help...Its not your fault. you tried your best, just sanitize your pen heater thing and hope your other chick does good. sometimes chicks die, they are young and vaunerable, its not anything you did wrong. try not to get to worked up over it and put your emotions into caring for your last chick. It just died. I gave the other chick my stuffed unicorn. The dead chick was bouncy and eating and drinking last night. God that is sad...
UPDATE... My silkie egg just hatched and another one is finally pipping. I will be putting a dab of iodine on navel stumps when they come out of the incubator for now on though. I have a bright yellow chick. Not sure if I see spots or if it is an all white biddy, I am just happy at the moment I have another chick. I WILL be putting a dab of iodine on a Qtip and putting it on the naval stump when they come out of the brooder for now on (just like we do for horses, I don't know why I didn't think to do it)..
