I have a sick chicken. She is 13 weeks old. Everything seemed to be fine then yesterday I noticed her being separated from her flick mates. In the morning her crop was soft and squishy. She will drink a little water. I took her to the vet and the drained the sour fluid out of the crop. Sour crop? Blockage? Worms? The vet suggested I give her a small amount of mineral oil and Amoxicillin.
I noticed the new flock poop is stringy. Is this normal?
I checked her this morning and her crop is still squishy.
I usually don’t name
My chicks but, this is Olive.

I would read the article below and begin treat her for sour crop.

The poop looks like it has strands of fibrous material - grass/straw? She may have a partial blockage - hard to know.

What do you feed?
Do you provide Grit (crushed granite) for your flock?

I would make sure she's drinking well. You can withhold food for 24 hours (make sure she's got water during waking hours) to see how well the crop empties - no sense in adding food to a crop that is not going down and compounding the problem.

After 24hrs offer her a small amount of food that is easy to process. Wet chick starter or bits of scrambled egg.
Sour crop is a yeast infection or the food/material has "fermented" in the crop. Yeast is treated with an anti-fungal. Interesting the vet prescribed an antibiotic. If you are giving the antibiotic, then I would also make sure she's getting some probiotics to help restore the gut and fight yeast infection.

She is eating grower/finisher crumble. I do have some probiotics I can add to her water. I also thought about plain, unsweetened yogurt.
