Hi! One of my 6 week old Wyandotte is lethargic/not eating or drinking since yesterday morning. I only got them a week ago from the breeder and they were on straw bedding. I put them on wood chips (not cedar) and my mistake was using news paper that they tor up to pieces and I think she must have ate some and has a blockage. I noticed they all are eating wood chips (not just pecking at it) so I am concerned. I have puppy pads down now and wood chips.

The sick one I issolated, gave mix of water and melasses with a bit of yogurt. She would pass yellow liquid poop and this morning a big glob of brown and yellow mucusi poop. Is she clogged or could she have coccidiosis? They were on medicated starter before I got them and I switched to regular starter.

Warning, I attchaed pictures. Can you get the medication for that at the feed store in Canada? There is very little that you can normally and vets dont help with chickens (not homestead ones at least). Thanks for any advice.

She might have coccidiosis, but I'm not sure. I only think so because the chick being lethargic and not eating are symptoms. I know a feed that can be bought on Amazon. It's medicated and would help I think. I think that she would be able to get any news paper out of her system, but you should get a few more options from other people to be sure. Hope the chick makes it.

You should contact a vet’s office and ask if you can buy some amprollium to treat for coccidiosis. At that age, that would be a possibility. Sulfa antibiotics are also used to treat coccidiosis, but that also comes from a vet prescription.
