I am hatching my first chicks ever and out of 8 banty cochins 4 hatched. One of the four kept violently flipping over backwards in the incubator, really knocking the unhatched eggs around. After about 24 hours the chick seemed to be walking normally so I moved it into the brooder with the other 3 chicks. About 48+ hours old the chick started tucking its head to its chest and flipping backwards again and peeping nonstop. It seems to calm when I hold it and will drink when I hold up to the water (I am giving it really diluted sugar water) and seems to eat a tiny bit when lifted it to the food, other than that it doesn't seem to eat or drink. It seems to be keeping its right eye shut and its left eye open (it has had both eyes open prior to this). Is it having a seizure? Or? Is there something I can do for it?

It could be seizures. Make sure it is getting enough water. I had a silkie chick have seizures...then, I realized that she had never learned to drink at the feed store. Once she got some save a chick in her, all seizures stopped and she grew up with the rest :)

I have read on other threads about giving polyvisol to treat vitamin deficiencies in new chicks. Does anyone know the dose, one drop?

I believe that most give 1 drop twice a day. Or, ou can put it into their drinking water.
