Lethargic chick. Doesn't seem to be eating much. Poop looks normal.
Found him this morning and he didn't have much energy. I could just reach down from above him and he didn't give me a second glance; usually they startle a bit and then return. Eyes close often, like he's drowsy. Some of the other chicks appear to have started ''bullying' him since he's down. In the photo above, he was doing a funky pose. Butt up, head down, wings stretched out kind of; but again, not much energy with the wing movement.

Possible causes? Treatments?

It sounds like your little chick might have cocci. Where did you get your chicks? Do you keep them outdoors or indoors? Also, are they getting medicated feed or have they been vaccinated? I had an older hen that had the exact same symptoms, and from what I can figure out, she had cocci. She died today.

If it is cocci, you will need to get treatment ASAP. There are medicines you can get for it, but if you can't get them right away I've heard plain and unsweetened yogurt will slow the disease for a day or two. Do not postpone medication, however! Get it as soon as you can. My hen died within three days of showing symptoms. Also, you will want to separate the other chicks and give them a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in their water to help stop the disease from spreading to them.

Not sure if this is what your baby has, but if it is, you'll want it treated immediately!

The chick seemed a bit better this morning without any treatment (other than adding some medicated feed). I went ahead and started a corid cycle, just in case; so hoping nothing gets spread around. I moved their coop and run to a new patch of grass and hoping to have them in their larger coop within the next couple of days. Updates as they occur.

Thanks..
