Hi everyone,
I have two two and a half year old chickens, one of whom is fine but the other is very poorly. She stopped laying nearly three weeks ago, and about a week and a half ago we found her just sitting on the ground, hunched over, and not willing to eat or drink without encouragement. We have her isolated in a box in our bathroom. Her appetite is very poor. She'll peck at a piece of cucumber if we wave it in front of her, but certainly won't wolf it down like she used to. She drinks water on her own. If I pick her up, her legs splay out, and if I put her down, she sort of crumples as though her legs can't take her weight. She does still appear to be able to move them a little, and curl/uncurl her toes. She has green-ish diarrhea, and her bottom was caked with it until we bathed her with epsom salts.
We have treated her for worms with flubenvet pellets, but that doesn't seem to have solved the issue. We have also tried antibiotics for a couple of days but with no result. She was vaccinated for coccidiosis when she was young, but we have tried administering coxoid dissolved in her water as well, but with no improvement. I've managed to get her to eat a little of a mash made from porridge oats, honey, raisins, cod liver oil and greek natural yoghurt, but not much.
Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong with her and how I might go about treating it? I'm happy to provide any pictures etc. if you need. My family is quite attached to her, so I really don't want to have to put her down.
I'd really appreciate some help,
