Sick Chicken - diahrrea, listless, lack of appetite

Yes, she died a few hours later. Poor little thing. Buried her in the garden under the hydrangeas where she liked to scratch.

I treated the others.

This is so weird--my grandma raised chickens for as long as I can remember and she never wormed them. She had chickens that lived for 6-8 years. Never had an issue. My mom raises chickens, my brother has a few...no one worms or worries about their chickens getting sick.

Mine are just a small backyard flock (5 chickens now) but I feel like I'm fighting to keep them healthy all the time. I keep their house clean, I keep their water clean, they eat organic feed, they get free time on the grass, they're not overcrowded...I don't get it. The only thing I can think of is that I got my original chicks from a hatchery (this one that died was one of those). Some of them seemed to start out as tiny babies with some breathing issues and such. Could it be that they all just have weak immune systems? I bought one chicken from a local breeder and she seems as healthy as an ox. I'm going to worm her too to be safe but it makes me wonder....
