Sick Chicken... Don't Know What to Do

Ok, thank you! I will definitely check out my feed store again, and ask about a necropsy program. And I'll post my location as well, for future reference, haha.

Those of us in the US sometimes forget that many people can't just run to Tractor Supply and get wormers and Corid, and some countries don't even have the stuff we have in the US.

^ They ship to Canada. Rush at your own discretion. :)

I know dealing with new chicken issues can seem daunting, and since I can tell you are very concerned about the quality of ingredients you use in your flock, there ARE times when "pharmaceuticals" MUST be used in order to effectively treat things like worms, Corid, infections, or surgery.

I have looked extensively into dealing with a worm infestation with HUMANS to see if there are any natural cures... There simply aren't... Or if there are, the knowledge is so lost and obscure that we will never find it. I have no idea if black walnut extract actually kills heart worms in dogs, and but I wouldn't risk it.... Simply for the quality of life for my animals.

In this case, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure... And in the case of worms, this cannot be said enough.

25 to 17 will become 17 to 12... 12 to 7... and so on and so forth until a reality check hits. It's harsh. It's cruel. But it's the nature of worms and chickens, unfortunately. A heavy parasite load can open the door for a whole host of other problems that become massive secondary issues, and the load starts small and builds over time. It's best to stay ahead of it.

We want your chickens to thrive! This is why we insist on the chemical wormers and hardly entertain the notion of another option. I, too, am a new chicken shepherd, and we feed our girls corn- and soy-free, non-GMO, organic-where-it-can-be feed (H&H - it's the best). I agree 100% that WE are what THEY eat, so we don't want chemicals and medication, GMO corn and soy floating around our eggs... I'm the first one to recommend honey for infections or turmeric for inflammation. Worms, though... Valbazen.

I wish it were any other way.
