If you scroll right to the bottom theres a video of someone explaining how to do one.

I think you need to store her body in a sealed bag in the fridge (not freezer). Maybe if you ask for her body back they will, i'm not sure thoughI think I will try and send her body in for a Necropsy. Will I get her back to bury her or no? (I know she will be cut open and that)
Also, what should I do to her body before sending her.
Thanks. I'll look into it.I think you need to store her body in a sealed bag in the fridge (not freezer). Maybe if you ask for her body back they will, i'm not sure though
totally understand she was your pet! I don't think you need to burp her. There should be some info on here though about the necropsy.I don't know how. I'm almost positive it was her crop.
Should I burp her and see? I want to respect her body, but at least then I'd know.
That sounds sweet but it's heartbreaking. Be prepared for Georgie to be a little upset or stressed for a few days. The sudden departure and absence of her will be felt and the pecking order has to re-establish all over again. Be sure to bury her body at least a couple of feet down to deter critters from digging it up, especially dogs. Hopefully, the tree is not right next to your coop. Wishing you the best.I let the girls see Mel's body. (I decided to just bury her under the apple tree. she was one of my only chickens that liked apples.)
I think they know. I'm positive Georgy knows. She was scratching around with the other chickens and when I laid down Melanie so they could say goodbye, she just stood their, staring. eventually laying down next to her.
Georgie and Melanie were best friends. I almost never saw them apart.

Just need timeThanks. When my rooster died, it took a few days for my chickens to become upset.
But I immediately noticed a shift in behavior when they saw her body, especially with Georgie.
Are there ways I can help them deal with it, or do they just need some time to recover?
Thanks Nora!Just need time![]()
