Sick chicken hunched over

I’m sorry that you lost her. The best way to know what might have been wrong is to have your state vet lab do a necropsy. The second best way is to do one at home, but even then there may not be anything obvious. Look at the major organs and take pictures of the liver, oviduct, intestines, crop and gizzard contents, or anything out of the ordinary. Sometimes we may see yellow ascites fluid in the abdomen, or large amounts of fat, or blood clots. Here is a link for contacting the state vet lab in your state:

This is a good video on doing a necropsy and organs are labeled:

Thanks. When my rooster died, it took a few days for my chickens to become upset.
But I immediately noticed a shift in behavior when they saw her body, especially with Georgie.
Are there ways I can help them deal with it, or do they just need some time to recover?
It just takes time and they will adjust in a couple of days. you might want to spend more time with them - just sitting - as you can. Your presence might be a reassurance.

Last night when I was doing chicken chores I noticed my chicken Melanie looked a little under the weather. I decided to wait until the morning to treat her for anything and when I went out to check on her today she looked extremely ill and hunched over.

She acted very lethargic and made no noise even when I picked her up and brought her inside. I wondered if maybe she was a bound so I gave her a soak and Epsom salt for about 10 minutes. I also gave her some dewormer, as well as I gave her some electrolytes. I couldn't get her to eat anything at first, but after a few drinks of the electrolytes I was able to get her to eat some scrambled eggs. Since she was soaked from Epsom salt bath, I didn't want to put her outside especially since it's so cold. I checked on her just now and she's back to being hunched over and not moving. She looks ill and lethargic

She is about 3 years old and is an EE I got from TSC.
I had a hen that had coccidiosis a while ago and your hen looks the same exact way

I'm so sorry your baby is ill; she does not look well. I can tell you I've learned to not soak a sick chicken. The resident experts here have indicated this to me and others as it can send them over the edge and make things worse. Keep her warm and in a darkened area so she can rest.
I don't know what to suggest.
Are her poops normal? Does she have any discharge from her eyes or nares? Is her breathing normal? How does her crop feel?

I may be missing a post, does the OP have another sick hen? The OP posted that her hen died last week.

She might have egg yolk peritonitis. You will have to research it. But definitely do not put her back out with the flock.
