Hi, I have an easter egger chicken who is acting very sick since yesterday. She did not want to leave the coop for most of the day and when she finally did she was acting very lethergic, she is also spitting up yellowish clear liquid and occasionaly moving her head in a circular motion. She also seems to occassionally be breathing weird and we notiched that sometimes when she is on the perch her left wing is dropping.
She was on antibiotics for an injury about 3 weeks ago
She seemed to have recovered from that episode until yesterday when she seems very very sick
Please help, we dont know much about chickens and need any advice we can get

Sorry she isn't doing well for you.
What kind of injury did she have?
What antibiotics was she on?
How does her crop feel now?

She must have either gotten cut on impailed on something, we were cleaning her for poop on her but when we noticed. She got maggots in the wound within 24hr!! Took her to the vet who cleaned out her injury and put her on Baytril for 7 days. She has never layed eggs since we had her and just before we discovered her injury she started having pasty butt which never went away.

Thank you all for responding. When we were trying to empty out her crop not a lot of stuff came out, just some of that yellow clear liquid that she had been spitting out on her own. It wasnt really foul smelling or anything. She didnt seem to have a crop problem before but she deffinitly has something going on with her poop, its been yellow/white and very watery for a while. Not sure how old she is since we got her as a grown chicken and she has never layed eggs since we had her for about 5 months
The original injury was on her butt. The vet has cleaned out and sutured the wound (we cant afford to go back there again)

Can you post some photos of her and the poop?

I'm sorry that she is not doing well. Can you feel of her abdomen between her legs - does it feel swollen, bloated or fluid filled?

Crop issues can be a symptoms of underlying conditions like internal laying/reproductive disorders, infection, worms and coccidiosis. Since she has not laid any eggs, has yellow/white poop, is lethargic and breaths weird, I would suspect that she has repro/internal laying issues (Egg Yolk Peritonitis, Ascites, cancer, tumors). Essentially anything that is inflamed/infected or blocking the internal organs and intestines impacts crop function. Since she has liquid coming from her beak, something is slowing the digestive process.

Getting a fecal float to rule out a worm and coccidiosis overload would be a good idea.
