Sick Chicken- Need Advice

Hello--

My EE, Babs, is unwell. She was laying in the run this morning, and did not come shooting out as she normally does, but had to be energetically coaxed. She is lethargic, and lays down given the chance. Very little appetite--- even scratch did not inspire her to eat more than a few pecks. Off and on, she is making a buzzing/humming sound while breathing, but it is not consistent. I have her warm in my garage with some electrolyte water in a dog carrier, but I'm unsure of what to do. Does anyone have experience with a a situation like this?

How old is she, and have you added any new birds to your flock lately? Is she having any eye or nasal drainage? Does she cough or sneeze. Is the sound you hear like a rattle or a wheeze? Try giving her some egg, either raw mixed with some buttermilk or plain yogurt, or cooked and chopped. Make sure that she is taking the electrolyte water. If you think she is having a respiratory disease, continue to keep her warm and think about starting an antibiotic such as tetracycline or Tylan.
