Sick Chicken, something wrong with one eye

Hi, I am located in the US
Also I do think it is lice/mites and tomorrow I will probably be buying all these things for treatment.

Also I don’t know if I am the only one but in order to clean my hens eye she would have stay very still and usually she does not want to. I will try really well though.

Also how do you flush the eye?
If you have a helper it would be good. Just hold her and squirt the saline in the eye, flushing or rinsing out any debris and bugs that are in the eye.

Hey Guys here is an update on my chicken.

She seems to still be moving around occasionally and I watched her drink and eat some today. She is puffing up whenever she can though is that a sign of lice/mites?? She is still a lot more still then usual but I have started them on a probiotic in their water and am continuing the sovereign silver. I will also be applying diatomaceous earth to her feathers this afternoon and cleaning her coop out as well.

I have not started this yet but I did have a family member pick me up some of the eye ointment and if you think I should use that let me know.

Also just a few minutes ago she was fanning herself in the sun.😂

SHE HAS LICE!

Ok I just was able to finally check her vent she definitely has lice and so does another chicken. My mom is gonna go get Pen And Poultry, is that a good lice treatment??? I am trying Diatomaceous earth but for my one really sick chicken I think she needs the chemical stuff.

I am so happy I know what’s wrong now and hopefully I can treat her in time.

If any of you have experience with this please tell me what to buy, how I can apply it safely, and how to apply it to the coops.

Thank everyone for your support and help!!😍

If two of them have lice, it's likely all of them do. They spread really fast, and are hard to get rid of. My chickens currently have lice, and I've been treating them with permethrin dust, just sprinkling it under their wings and next to their vents. That kills them for a little, then the next batch hatch, and I have to do it all over again. Slowly, they're dying off!

DE is useless for treating this. You need something with permethrin, or the more expensive (a lot more expensive) Elector PSP with spinosad. Pen and Poultry has permethrin so if you follow lable instructions it should work fine, there are many brands. For permethrin products you need to treat the birds at weekly intervals at least 3 times, that kills the lice and then any that hatch from eggs there after. The permethrin does not kill the eggs, so you have to get them as they hatch but before they are mature enough to lay any more eggs, and that is why it takes repeated treatments. The link I gave above explains that well. Lice tend to stay on the birds more than mites, but if you are having recurring problems I would still clean out and treat the coop as well, again at weekly intervals. Remove and discard all bedding (it may be full of bugs and eggs) and nesting material, spray with a permethrin spray getting into all nooks and crannies. Replace with fresh bedding and nesting material.

Hi everyone I just went out and got this⬇️

It is a natural lice and mites thing.

Will this work?
