my gold laced Wyandotte has been ailing since yesterday evening. She seemed listless and didn't want her evening scratch treat with the rest of the birds. This morning she was on the nest for a good while. This afternoon I found her under a bush in the griping yard with her tail up looking labored with her eyes half closed.
I do not see and egg in her vent. Can't feel anything like a hard egg inside, but am wondering if she is egg bound.
She is in my garage in a crate- same position with her tail up and labored breathing. What should I do. Earlier after I carried her inside I looked at her bottom again and it looked like albumen dripping out of her vent, but it may have just been urates. Help!

She may have been egg bound and had an egg break inside. It may have been a shell-less egg. Can you insert one finger inside her vent about an inch to feel for a stuck egg, any remnants of a membrane or shell? Hens having an egg break can feel very weak for awhile. There may be other eggs in the oviduct as well. I would give her 1/2 of a human calcium tablet or Tums for some calcium tonight. Placing her in a humid room on a heating pad set to LOW, with a towel underneath her might help her relax to lay another egg if she has one. Offer her some sips of water, and some wet feed or cooked egg.

Thank you so much! I will try those things.

She has been eating a scrambled egg bits at a time. And taken just a few drops of water. Her breathing is still labored. She passed a little poop and some urates. I will get some calcium tablets while I'm out this morning. I have her inside in a crate. I tried feeling for an egg, but didn't feel anything. May not have gone in far enough, but I worry about injuring her. Should I use a dropper and squirt water in her mouth? I'm afraid she's going to get dehydrated.

I would be careful squirting water in her beak. It would be better to drop the water on the side and let her take it in.
I'm sorry she is not doing well. Can you take a video of her (upload to youtube and provide a link)
Photos of her posture and poop may be helpful too.

When you felt for an egg, did you notice if her abdomen was bloated or felt like it had fluid in it? (cup your hand and feel below the vent and between the legs - compare her to another hen or two if you need to)

Does she still have a discharge of clear liquid coming out her vent?

Thank you,
I have been squirting the water at the side of her beak. She has almost eaten the whole egg I scrambled for her. I washed her butt off(during which time she pooped on my hand while I was feeling indies her vent again. It was extremely foul smelling.), soaked her for about 20 minutes in warm water with salts. Dried her and she is back in the crat on top of a slightly damp towel with a heating pad under it. I rubbed some olive oil on her vent. I don't want to bother her for a picture as she is moving around in there and may be passing an egg. I sure hope so.
Yes, her belly is swollen. I massaged it while she was soaking.
