I have a hen that is 18 weeks old about a week ago she was stubbling around the yard and wouldnt perch. We seperated her from the other chickens and now she cant walk. She eats and drinks but just cant get up and go. I have done so much research but i just cant figure it out. PLEASE HELP

There are a lot of possibilities. Look her feet and legs over carefully for injuries. Look up bumblefoot pictures and see if this is a possibility. Does it seem like she can not stand because she is in pain or because she is weak. Weight loss?

I had a hen who ended up with worms and became too weak to walk before I realized what was wrong. Has she ever been wormed? Check her poo (although just because you don't see anything doesn't mean she does not have worms.)

Any other symptoms? Comb color? Breathing? Mucus?

She might be an early egg layer and might be eggbound. I recommend soaking her in a container of warm water up to her sides for about 20 minutes and gently massage her underside front to rear while soaking. Then put on a disposable glove and put olive oil on your finger and insert it into her vent checking for debris. Then remove your finger and put some olive oil just on the inside and outside of her vent. The warm water soak will relax and expand her innards making the stuck egg easier to pass, massaging will help move the egg along. Finger in vent stretches her insides and the olive oil inside the vent will let her lay the egg easier. Hopefully she'll lay the egg if that's the problem.

You can also give her a couple drops of liquid baby vitamins (without the iron) and crush a B vitamin tablet and put it into her feed. If it is a B vitamin deficiency this will help it and if it's not it won't hurt her at all. You can also feed her some cottage cheese to help up her calcium intake. Is she on medicated feed still? I had a couple who had a problem with stumbling then not walking and it helped. Like I said, it surely can't hurt.

Seems like she cant stand because shes in pain. It doesnt seem like she is losing weight, she eats good if you sit her in front of the food. We have another chicken we thought was getting the same thing, but she only has a little like a limp when she walks she want perch either but she gets around pretty good.

Did your chicken recover to walk again? We have read so many articles trying to figure it all out. We had narrowed it down to a vitamin deficiency maybe botulism ( but her eyes are open all the time). Just wish i knew. Thank you for your reply we will definitely try what you said.
