I have only 4 chickens and all were running around the yard appearing healthy yesterday. This morning when we opened the coop, one Buff Orpington was laying on the floor and did not want to get up or out. The others were pecking at her and bustled her out the coop, so I know she can walk if she has too. Also, her neck is long and limp. I was afraid it was broken, but she can lift it when she must, she just can't keep it up, and it's always off to the right. She is completely lethargic, just lays in a box. All the exposed skin and ear area and what little comb she has (she is only 3 months old) is dark pink, and I think she is feverish. Any ideas? I've always been concerned about a black widow bite, but thinking it might be a disease?
