sick chicken!!

Hi everyone please help me I have a chicken that is very lethargic and having trouble keeping her eyes open she is drinking when I put her beak in the water but not eating she has runny poop kinda looks like maybe egg color wondering if an egg is stuck or cracked inside her she has not laid any eggs yet she is 7mo barre rock

Does it look more like egg material that coccidiosis? She does sound like she could be laying internally or has an egg that has broken inside. Can you put on a disposable glove, and insert one finger into the vent an inch or so to feel for any egg membrane or shell that might have been retained? She may need some antibiotics. Penicillin (procaine pen G) is about the only one that feed stores may carry, but Baytril or enrofloxacin would be much better. Do you have a regular or avian vet who could see her? Thanks for the info she actually just passed away in my arms!! Flapped her wings a few times and then just passed to me it looked like her poop looked like egg white mucus stuff

Oh I am so sorry that you lost her so suddenly. She may have been laying internally for some time, or she just had an overwhelming infection. You can refrigerate her body to send it in to your state vet for a necropsy to find the cause of death. It is very sad to lose one so quickly and unexpectedly.

Thank you! It is very sad we just buried her in our backyard so I have two other chickens one is laying and she is just fine the other chicken is a brahma big bird! She is 7mo old and hasn't started laying yet she just started squatting last week or so is there a way to prevent this from happening to her or a way to tell if she will lay soon we live in California kinda on the colder side right now

It was probably just something that affected the one chicken. I have had hatchery brahmas that had no problems. Good luck.
