soo just noticed one of our chickens is sneezing. I had noticed some of their waddles have gotten pale but I attributed this to it being winter and them lying less in general (dumb noobie mistake). So I’m off to get supplies to clean the coop/run and treat the flock (6 in total).

My main question is we use sweet PDZ in the coop and love the ease of cleaning the poop up (which I do about 5 days out of the week on average). The run is a mix of straw and yard debris. When I’m cleaning the coop is there a specific method or product I should use, and do I need to toss the sweet PDZ and replace it? Because that’s gonna be a bit pricy. But my chickens health is worth it if needed. Or is it if I pile it into the yard to let the sun sanitize it and reuse it in the future when I next clean out the coop.

The main thing is to check if the same chicken is sneezing every few minutes and not just during or right after eating. How is your overhead coop ventilation? I use Sweet PDZ granules in my smaller coop, and have had no problems within causing sneezing. It can be a little dusty when scooping the droppings up, but my chickens are usually outside during that time. I would not put the PDZ outside to dry out, because when mine gets wet from a spill, it tends to gum up and need to be dumped.

Ok that’s what I thought. This is my coop and run. Just in the middle of cleaning. Lots of ventilation and space in their covered run as well as under the coop. They don’t hang out in the coop and many days are in the yard.
