Sick chicken

Can anyone help me understand what's wrong with this chicken? We are new at this and have never seen anything like it.

It appears that she has a vent (cloacal) prolapse, and has a large amount of white urates, equal to urine, stuck to her vent. I would remove her from the flock, bring her inside where it is warm, and place her in a warm bath of either Epsom salts or soapy water. Wash her vent off and then put some lubricant (honey, a mild oil, vaseline) on the red exposed tissue to make sure it doesn’t dry out. Then try to push the prolapse back inside and hold it. Also try to make sure there is not an egg stuck inside. It may come back out, or you may not get it in the first few times, but be patient. Keep her separated in a dog crate so that she does not get injured or vent pecked until her prolapse stays inside. Here is a good article to read:
