sick chicken

My 4 year old chicken is wheezing, I guess. I sort of sounds like humming or low singing. Should I separate her from the other chickens? Should I be concerned about the eggs I collected today? How can I help her?

I think your best bet would be to maybe keep her away from the other chickens just to see how she does. Good luck I hope she is feeling better!

Hello, if her breathing is weezy, it would be a good idea to separate her from the flock. This happened to my favorite EE pullet, and I put her in a cage in the basement, and I put electrolites and duramayacin (a powdered antibiotic) in her water, and I ran a vaporizer with vicks on her.

She was truly in bad shape, I though I would lose her. This seemed to happen overnight. One day she was fine, the next, she was coughing, sneezing and all puffed up. Not eating or anything.....

Anyhow, she pulled through it with flying colors! And we're real buddies......since I gave her some special attention. I think the vaporizor really helped her.
